"Birth isn't something that we suffer, but something we actively do and exalt in."

ABOUT

Being pregnant and giving birth is a deeply personal experience and a significant rite of passage. Women should emerge from the childbirth continuum feeling joyful, strong and confident, and babies should be welcomed in the most gentle and loving way possible.
Britt's philosophy of care is based on the belief that pregnancy and birth is a natural physiological process, that women have the innate ability to birth their babies, and that birth is almost always a family event rather than a medical one.

As a privately practicing midwife Britt focuses on helping women give birth naturally, confidently, and safely. Britt is a professional, certified midwife offering a variety of prenatal, birthing, and postnatal care, including breastfeeding support. Britt includes education around maintaining a healthy pregnancy, labouring and birthing effectively, breastfeeding, and early parenting skills. Britt works with clients to instil confidence in themselves and their decision-making, based on best evidence-based practice. Britt works within a one hour driving radius of Bellingen, including Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca Heads, Dorrigo and anywhere in-between. Contact Britt today to learn more about her individualised service.

"Birth is not only about making babies, birth is also about making mothers... Strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."

MIDWIFERY CARE

PREGNANCY CARE

Britt will be with you from the first stages of your pregnancy, all the way to your birthing day, offering support and advice throughout. With this service you'll have everything you need to stay healthy and knowledgeable during your pregnancy. Britt will see you often, increasing regularity as your pregnancy progresses, to make your journey go as safely and smoothly as possible. Britt can refer you for any blood tests or ultrasounds that are required, and will refer you to an appropriate specialist should the need arise.

LABOUR AND BIRTH SUPPORT

On the day your baby decides they are coming, Britt is here for everything you could possibly need. Britt will attend you at home as soon as you want her support. Britt will demonstrate various skills and tools you can use to effectively traverse the birthing journey. Britt will do all she can to ensure you and your family have the best birthing experience possible. Britt supplies all of the kit, emergency equipment, and medications you might need - including a birth pool and other pain relieving options like aromatherapy, massage and emotional support. You can trust Britt to take care of you during the final hours before meeting your baby.

POSTNATAL CARE AND BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT

Britt will guide you through your earliest days of parenthood, up to six weeks post your birth date. The early days of parenting can be demanding, particularly when complicated by lack of sleep. Britt will visit you at home as regularly as you require to ensure you and your baby continue to thrive - offering parenting advice, breastfeeding support, and mother and baby checks. In particular, breastfeeding doesn’t always come easily - Britt will gently support and set you up for a long and successful breastfeeding journey.

"Birth Matters… It matters because it is the way we all begin our lives outside of our source, our mother’s bodies. It’s the means from which we enter and feel our first impression of the wider world. For each mother, it is an event that shakes and shapes her to her innermost core. Women’s perceptions about their bodies and their babies’ capabilities will be deeply influenced by the care they receive around the time of birth.”
